The EFQM and IPMA Excellence Models for Organizations and Projects by Mr. Triantafyllos Katsarelis
The event will take place on Thursday, March 24th at 20:00 at the Hellenic American Union Auditorium on the 6th floor conference room of the HAU building located at Massalias 22.
Regardless of sector, size, structure or maturity, to be successful, organizations need to establish an appropriate management framework. In addition project oriented organizations need to establish an appropriate project management framework.
The EFQM Excellence Model is a practical tool that is used by organizations in a number of way such as: A tool for Self-Assessment, a basis of common vocabulary, or a structure for the management system. Based on a set of eight (8) “Fundamental Concepts”, the Model integrates nine (9) weighted criteria (32 sub-criteria) and. Organizations in the “Journey for Excellence” climb a ladder of three (3) levels the higher leading to the International Awards.
The IPMA Project Excellence Award Model is largely based on the EFQM approach, but has only the International Awards level. National Models are developed in some countries, thus giving the chance to projects of a smaller scale or complexity to compete on a national level.
An introduction to both Models, Concept, Structure and History of applications will be presented.
About the Speaker:
Mr. Katsarelis holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering (National Technical University of Athens), Post Graduate Diplomas D.S. in Engineering (I. N. P. Grenoble) and Business Administration-MBA (National Technical University of Athens - Athens University of Economics & Business), a Professional Diploma of Quality Systems Manager (European Organisation for Quality Management) and the certification as Project Manager - IPMA Level C. He is the Project Manager for the development of the Hellenic PM Excellence Award and the implementation of the International PM Excellence Award in Greece.
He is certified as: Validator and “European Assessor”, European Foundation for Quality Management-EFQM Excellence Model, Assessor International Project Management Association- IPMA International Project Excellence Award, Auditor ISO 9001 (IRCA). He joined “D. Bairaktaris & Associates- Engineering Company” in 1980 as project engineer. Since 1995 he is a Senior Partner, Member of the Managing Board, Head of the Quality Systems Department, Project and Programme Manager.
Since 1981 he is also appointed as Scientific Associate at the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens. He is also a member of the Permanent Committee for Standardization, Certification & Quality Management (Hellenic Chamber of Engineers), the Committee for the Management of Engineering Projects (Hellenic Management Association) and statutory member of the Network of Project Managers in Greece (PM-Greece).
